Definitions for the terms used in the example to the right:

JAMBS

The window frame members which compose the top and sides of the unit.

SASH
The framework holding
the glass in the window.

GLAZING
The glass panes or lights in a sash of a window. Also the act of installing glass in a  window sash.

GRID
Simulated muntins that divide glazing into smaller panes while preserving energy efficiency.

FRAME
Outside member of a window unit which encloses the sash, composed of side jambs, head jamb and sill.
